Short version: reading MCP Shelf costs you nothing. We only hold personal details you type into one of our two forms, and you can ask us to delete them at any time.
Just browsing
There are no ads, no tracking pixels and no analytics cookies on this site, so there is no cookie banner either. Our host, Vercel, keeps short-lived server logs (IP address, browser, the page asked for) to run and protect the site. It also tells our pages which country a request comes from, which we use for one thing: deciding whether the newsletter form needs a consent box.
The newsletter
When you sign up, your email address goes straight to Beehiiv, the service that sends the newsletter, along with a note of which page you signed up on and whether you ticked the consent box. Beehiiv stores it; we do not keep a copy on our own servers. Every issue has an unsubscribe link, and unsubscribing stops all newsletter email at once.
Suggesting a server
The suggestion form asks for your name and email, and optionally an X handle, together with details of the server. These are saved in our Supabase database so Sophie Filer can review them, and we email you through Resend to confirm we got it. We may also write back about the decision. Your email and handle are never shown on the site or on the status page. While you fill in the form, a draft is kept in your own browser so you do not lose it on a refresh; it is cleared when you send.
The form for reporting a problem with a listing is simpler: what you write, and an email address only if you choose to leave one, is emailed to our inbox through Resend and is not saved in the database.
Projects that send listings through our partner API give us a contact email in the same way, and we use it only to ask about that listing.
What we never do
- Sell, rent or swap your details.
- Add you to the newsletter because you suggested a server.
- Use your details for anything other than the reason you gave them.
Who handles the data
- Vercel: hosting and request logs.
- Supabase: the database that holds suggestions.
- Resend: the emails about your suggestion.
- Beehiiv: newsletter sign-ups and sending.
Each of them processes the data on our behalf and under its own privacy terms.
How long we keep it
Suggestions stay while they are useful for the review and for spotting repeats, and we delete them on request. Newsletter addresses stay with Beehiiv until you unsubscribe or ask us to remove them.
Your rights
You can ask for a copy of what we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. Write to mcpshelf@gmail.com from the address in question and we will reply within a month, usually much sooner. If you are in the UK or the EU you can also complain to your data protection authority.
