At a glance
AntV is Ant Group's open source visualisation library, and this server gives an assistant one tool per chart type: line, area, bar, pie, scatter, histogram, boxplot, sankey, funnel, radar, treemap, word cloud, Venn, fishbone, flowchart, mind map, org chart, network graph, pivot table and more. Each call returns a link to the rendered chart.
By default the chart is drawn by an AntV service run by Alipay, so the data you chart leaves your machine. For anything sensitive, deploy the rendering service yourself and point VIS_REQUEST_SERVER at it. The three map tools use AMap and only cover China.

Our check: We ran this exact config on 27 Oct 2026: it started and answered with 27 tools.
What's in the pod: its tools
We found 27 tools when we started it on 27 Oct 2026. Every one of them only reads, so nothing changes unless you act on what it finds.
Only reads27 tools · Looks things up and changes nothing.
| Tool | What it is for |
|---|---|
generate_area_chart | An area chart for trends where the size of the total matters. |
generate_bar_chart | Horizontal bars for comparing categories with long names. |
generate_boxplot_chart | Box plots comparing distributions across groups. |
generate_column_chart | Vertical bars for comparing categories. |
generate_district_map | Shades administrative regions by value. China only. |
generate_dual_axes_chart | Two series with different units on one chart, such as bars and a line. |
generate_fishbone_diagram | A fishbone (Ishikawa) diagram of causes behind a problem. |
generate_flow_diagram | A flowchart of steps and decisions. |
generate_funnel_chart | A funnel showing drop-off between stages. |
generate_histogram_chart | A histogram showing how values are spread across ranges. |
generate_line_chart | A line chart for trends over time. |
generate_liquid_chart | A single percentage drawn as a filling bubble. |
generate_mind_map | A mind map branching out from one central idea. |
generate_network_graph | Nodes and links showing how things are connected. |
generate_organization_chart | An org chart of teams and reporting lines. |
generate_path_map | Draws a route between places. China only. |
generate_pie_chart | A pie or donut for shares of a whole. |
generate_pin_map | Puts points of interest on a map. China only. |
generate_radar_chart | A radar chart comparing items across four or more measures. |
generate_sankey_chart | A Sankey diagram of flows between stages or categories. |
generate_scatter_chart | A scatter plot for the relationship between two numbers. |
generate_spreadsheet | A table, or a pivot table when rows and values are given. |
generate_treemap_chart | Nested rectangles sized by value, for hierarchies. |
generate_venn_chart | A Venn diagram of overlapping sets. |
generate_violin_chart | Violin plots, a fuller view of distributions than box plots. |
generate_waterfall_chart | A waterfall showing how gains and losses add up to a total. |
generate_word_cloud_chart | A word cloud sized by frequency or weight. |
Grouped and described by us. The README on GitHub lists the inputs each tool takes.
How clearly it describes its tools to your assistant
- Tools with a description
- 27 of 27
- Say if they change things
- 27 of 27
- Context it takes, at least
- ~2,300 tokens
Every tool says whether it only reads or can change things, so a client can ask before the risky ones.
From the tool list it sent us. The token figure counts names, descriptions and input names; the full schemas your client loads add more.

ChatGPT only connects to remote servers by URL. This one runs on your computer, so use Claude, Cursor or VS Code.
Add "DISABLED_TOOLS": "generate_district_map,generate_path_map,generate_pin_map" in env to drop the China-only map tools and save context.

Settings
Names are exactly as the project spells them. Required ones are marked.
| Setting | What it does |
|---|---|
VIS_REQUEST_SERVEREnvironment variable | The service that draws the charts. It defaults to AntV's public service run by Alipay; point it at your own deployment to keep data in house.https://charts.example.com/api/chart |
DISABLED_TOOLSEnvironment variable | A comma-separated list of chart tools to hide from the model.generate_district_map,generate_pin_map |
SERVICE_IDEnvironment variable | An ID that lets you look up the charts you generated later. |
--transportCommand line flag | stdio by default; sse or streamable to serve it over HTTP on port 1122.--transport streamable |
What it can touch
It can read
- The data the model passes in for each chart
It can change
Safer setup: The chart data goes to the rendering service, which is AntV's public one unless you change VIS_REQUEST_SERVER. Run your own rendering service for anything confidential.
Before you start
- Node.js 18 or newer
- Nothing else: no account or key
If it does not work
- Charts fail behind a corporate firewall
- The server calls antv-studio.alipay.com to draw each chart. Allow that host, or deploy the rendering service inside your network.
- Map tools return errors or empty maps
- The three map tools use AMap and only work for places in China. Hide them with DISABLED_TOOLS elsewhere.
- npx is not found on Windows
- Use "command": "cmd" with args /c, npx, -y, @antv/mcp-server-chart.
- The model picks an odd chart type
- Name the chart you want, or add AntV's chart-visualization skill in Claude Code, which chooses the type for you.

Questions
What does it return?
A link to an image of the chart, which most clients show inline.
Does it need an account?
No account or key for the default public rendering service.
Can it make interactive charts?
No. It returns static images. For editable diagrams, a server like draw.io MCP fits better.
Is it free?
Yes, MIT licensed.
